Letter to the editor: Vote Bill Smuckler for mayor of Canton

This letter is written in support of Bill Smuckler for mayor of Canton. Although I have known Bill and his family for many years, my endorsement is not based upon our friendship.

I've known a number of people for a long time that I would not endorse for anything. No, my endorsement is based upon a sincere belief that Bill is the best person for the job. I live in Canton and have done so for more than 42 years. I am well aware of the needs of the city, including infrastructure, crime and development in general.

Some would say Bill's experience is a detriment. I say it's a plus. After all, if you need surgery, do you want a surgeon with little or no experience, or one with years of experience?
