I-77 northbound reopens following morning crash

CANTON – The northbound lane of Interstate 77 near the state Route 800/Cleveland Avenue exit has reopened after a crash shut down the highway, the Ohio Department of Transportation says.

ODOT spokesman Ray Marsch said the highway was closed just north of state Route 800. The highway was closed around 7 a.m. and reopened around 8:30 a.m.

That stretch has only one lane open due to ongoing construction.

According to Canton police, a vehicle traveling southbound went left of center striking a vehicle traveling north. Canton fire personnel responded but no one in the vehicles was transported to the hospital, officials said.
