Fatal Carroll County crash kills driver, two teens

MONROE TWP. − Three people, including two teens, are dead after the vehicle in which they were traveling was struck by a truck, traveled off the roadway and into a ditch Monday afternoon in Carroll County.

Randy Simmons, 60, of East Liverpool, was driving a 2015 Honda Odyssey eastbound on state Route 542 about 4:13 p.m. Monday when an Ford F650 driven by Doug Mackey, 55, of Diana, West Virginia, traveled left of center and struck Simmons' vehicle.

Both vehicles traveled off the roadway and into a ditch.

Simmons, and his passengers, Tina Shetler, 18, and Kenneth Shetler, 16, both of Hammondsville, died in the crash.

Investigators did not indicate if Mackey was injured, or if anyone involved was wearing a seat belt.

The crash is under investigation.
