CLEVELAND — The Guardians took a 2-0 lead in the first inning against perennial Cy Young candidate Gerrit Cole. And so ended any good news for the Guardians.

From that point, the Yankees lineup overpowered starter Hunter Gaddis and the Guardians pitching staff en route to an 11-2 victory.

Gaddis was tagged for eight runs on eight hits in three innings. Tim Herrin pitched two scoreless innings before Xzavion Curry allowed two runs in three innings.

Jose Ramirez went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the loss. After the Guardians put up two runs against Cole in the first inning, he went on to toss six consecutive scoreless innings.
