Jean Helen McFarren, age 77, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. She was born October 21, 1945 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Merlin and Helen Schoeller. Jean graduated from Bay View High School in Milwaukee, WI., class of 1963 and North Central College Naperville, IL in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. Jean and her husband Tom shared a deep love of music with Jean directing choral and bell choirs at all of the churches where Tom served. St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (Canton, Ohio); Beach City United Methodist Church (Beach City, Ohio), Grace United Methodist Church (North Canton, Ohio); Christ United Methodist Church, (Ashland, Ohio). Over the years Jean was a member of the choral groups, Tapestries of Ohio, Salem Chorus, Deerfield Community Chorus and Blossom Chorus. Jean enjoyed singing, gardening, bird watching, boating, nature, history and genealogy along with trips to Germany, Ireland and Wales. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Paul and Helen McFarren and aunt, Mildred McMillan. Jean is survived by her husband of 55 years Thomas Charles McFarren whom she married on June 10, 1967 in Milwaukee, WI at Wauwatosa United Methodist Church. Jean met Thomas at North Central College while finishing up college while Tom attended the neighboring seminary. Jean is also survived by her children, Elizabeth (Mark) Clemons of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Kathleen (Michael) of Pickerington, Ohio and Kenneth (Kyle) McFarren of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Ashley (Brenton) Meininger, Kaitlyn (Joseph) Zoldak, McKenzie and Ryan Shook, Ethan Minor and Nathan Clemons; great grandchildren, JB and Hailee Zoldak and Brooks Meininger; sister, Alice (Sheldon) Sanov; brother-in-law, William (Peg) McFarren; niece, Debbie Brayboy and nephews, David (Alison) Sanov and John McFarren. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW North Canton, Ohio 44720 from 12pm to 1pm with services to follow at 1pm with Pastor Ivy Smith officiating.
